The Italian

This is my entry into the classyfoodmofo Make Me a Sandwich contest.

I call it “The Italian” because I’m racist. But look at that sandwich. It wants to take its shirt off and tell you to fuggedaboutit. It wants to make-out with you behind the rectory. It wants to drive a Camaro and knock you up in the backseat. It wants to strut down the Avenue and talk with its hands. You want it and I’m gonna tell ya how to get it.

First, you want a roll. Then you want to split the roll and hollow it out a little.

Then you want your ingredients. Fresh lettuce (I use chopped romaine), tomatoes, thinly sliced red onions, banana peppers, balsamic vinaigrette, sliced ham (I use Boar’s Head Tavern Ham), salami, prosciutto and provolone.

Layer the meats on one side of the roll and place at least 2 slices of cheese on the other side. Place under the broiler until the cheese starts to bubble then remove and add sliced tomato, onion, peppers, lettuce and drizzle with vinaigrette.

Then tuck a napkin in your tank/tube top and manga the fuck out of it. I enjoyed the above sandwich with a bottle of beer. You drink whatever you like. Be sure you have some time set aside after to go to confession. And wipe that smile off your face, ya mook.
